Issue 45: Adult Friends & Winter Trips

ISSUE 45 TLDR: Making friends as an adult, foods NFL players eat, the best winter trips, retirement saving tips from Mr. Wonderful, Thanksgiving dishes the pilgrims never ate, moves for your back, farmland in NY, smelly poop, dress for cold, and forrest bathing.

BUT FIRST: Next week is Thanksgiving. Wasn't last week just Halloween? If there is one thing I've learned from this pandemic - it's that time does not slow down. I am headed up to the mountains next week to give thanks to fresh air and if we're lucky - the downhill slopes. My office chair will be thankful for the break. I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving and can spend some quality time with loved ones. Feel free to hit reply and let me know your plans for Turkey Day.

How to Make Friends as an Adult

Finding friends as a child sort of comes natural -  you are surrounded by others your own age at school, sports, and activities - you simply seek out those with similarities.

3 things all NFL players eat - and so should you

Salmon, sweet potatoes, and hummus are mainstays in the diet of nearly every NFL player according to one former player. Why? Because they are all dense in essential nutrients that keep the athletes in good condition. In fact registered dietitian Bonnie Taub-Dix said if we were stuck on a desert island, it would be OK if those were the only foods we ate. These three nutrient rich foods could benefit all of us... via Insider

• Salmon is good for maintaining muscle and preventing injury. One serving of salmon can account for 41% of a person's recommended daily intake of protein plus it's also rich in essential vitamins like B3, B5, B6, B12, D, and E, as well as omega-3 fatty acids, selenium, and potassium. These nutrients can help fight inflammation.

• One sweet potato contains 26 grams of carbohydrates, which deliver a boost of energy, and 3.9 grams of fiber, which helps balance energy levels.

• Hummus is a good source of protein and can help regulate blood sugar. The main ingredient in hummus is garbanzo beans — also known as chickpeas — which are legumes, alongside kidney beans and peanuts. They are blended with tahini (a sesame paste), lemon, garlic, salt, and oil or water to make a puree.
