9 Habits of the World's Healthiest & Longest-Lived People

The world's Blue Zones are know as a place where people who live there have eluded heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and several types of cancer. The people from the Blue Zones live a much different lifestyle than we are used to here in the modern western world. MindBodyGreen recently shared 9 common habits from the people that seem to live forever.

  1. They move naturally. They are always on the move without the help from mechanical conveniences
  2. They have a sense of purpose
  3. They manage stress. Stress leads to chronic inflammation, associated with every major age-related disease. They engage with elders, pray, take naps, and enjoy happy hour.
  4. They don't over eat. People in the Blue Zones eat their smallest meal in the late afternoon or early evening, and then they don't eat any more for the rest of the day.
  5. They eat mostly plants.
  6. They drink wine daily. The trick is to drink one to two glasses per day with friends and/or with food
  7. They find belonging. Most of the Blue Zones have some sort of faith - denominations don't matter.
  8. They put loved ones first
  9. They find community. They chose—or were born into—social circles that support healthy behaviors. It takes a tribe.
